Update on Confirmation ceremony
Parochial House July 23rd 2020
Dear Families,
Our Confirmation time is close and we are looking so forward to celebrating this wonderful occasion with you. We know you are also looking forward to this very special day.
Because of this year’s unique circumstances Confirmation will be celebrated without Mass and the children will be confirmed by Fr Conal.
Archbishop Michael will be coming to the Church of the Holy Rosary on Sunday July 26th to celebrate Mass at 12.30pm for all the Confirmation boys and girls. He has asked that you tune into this Mass in preparation for your Confirmation day. The Mass can be viewed on our parish webcam castlebarparish.ie and parish radio 105.3fm.
Just a few notes about the day of your Ceremony:
To comply with Government guidelines and restrictions on social distancing each family will be restricted to three people, i.e. the confirmation candidate and parents or one parent and one other adult.
A parent will act as Sponsor for their child.
Each family unit of three will be allocated a seat. Families will gather outside in the church carpark in the designated 2m distanced spaces and will be ushered into the Church by stewards. The Church door will open 30 mins before your ceremony time.
As you enter the Church you will be asked to sanitize your hands before being ushered to your seat.
Please follow the directions being given by Stewards and Ushers.
The wearing of masks is strongly recommended.
Once you take your seat, movement around the Church, will not be possible.
The Ceremony will last approximately one hour.
There will be no toilet facilities available in the Church.
If your child was baptised in Ballyheane, Breaffy or Church of the Holy Rosary we do not need a Baptism Certificate. If your child was baptised elsewhere please bring a copy of the Baptism Cert with you, if you can. If this is not possible please let us know on the day of Confirmation.
Please bring a card with your child’s chosen Confirmation name clearly written on it.
Unfortunately the taking of photographs in the Church before, during and after the ceremony will not be permitted.
We realise these restrictions may cause difficulties for some families and we thank you for your understanding and co-operation. For your family members unable to attend, the Ceremony can be viewed on our parish webcam castlebarparish.ie and parish radio 105.3fm. If you have any queries you can email Mary Connell on: mgallagherconnell@gmail.com. Please do not contact the parish office.
Thank you all for your patience and understanding
Looking forward to celebrating your child’s Confirmation,
Yours sincerely,
Fr Conal Eustace PP, Fr Shane Sullivan CC, Fr Dixy Faber CC, Mary Connell Pastoral Coordinator
